Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, its latest mid-range chipset for mobile devices. The new platform is promised to bring incremental upgrades over its predecessor, namely in performance, display and imaging.
According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 delivers a seven percent performance boost for both its Adreno GPU and Kryo CPU. The chipset also raises its peak CPU clock speed to 2.7 GHz, compared to the 2.5 GHz maximum of the previous generation.

Display capabilities have also seen an upgrade, with the Gen 4 adding support for WFHD+ screens at resolutions up to 2,900 x 1,300 and refresh rates of up to 144Hz. Newly incorporated is Low Light Vision, a feature previously limited to Qualcomm’s higher-end processors, which enhances video quality in darker environments.
Aside from these new features, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 retains many of the capabilities found in its predecessor. These include support for 200-megapixel photo capture with AI enhancements, Quick Charge 4+ fast charging that can restore a device from zero to 50 percent in just five minutes, as well as real-time translation and transcription across multiple languages.

While Qualcomm has yet to name which smartphone manufacturers will be adopting the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. Regardless, the chipset is expected to appear in upcoming mid-range devices later this year.
