Highway operator PLUS has announced that, as of 30 June, it has 112 operational EV charging points along its highways. This includes the Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 (LPT2) expressway, and spread out across R&Rs, petrol stations, and lay-bys.
In a statement, PLUS says that this number has surpassed its own initial goal of 100 charging points by the end of 2025. Company managing director Nik Airina Nik Jaffar says this “contributes to the achievement of 1,000 fast charging points by 2025 under the Low Carbon Mobility Development Plan (2021 – 2030)”.

Worth noting also that all of these are Direcet Current Fast Chargers (DCFCs), according to company chief commercial officer Mohd Fauzi Puniran. He adds that they have between 47 kW and 200 kW output to help vehicles “reach up to 80% charge within 15 to 30 minutes”. They also come with universal CCS2 connectors, allowing them to be compatible with most EV brands.
Previously, DPM Fadillah Yusof announced the goal for the country to have up to 10,000 EV charging points throughout the country by the end of the year. On one hand, the 112 figure PLUS announced contributes very little to the goal. But on the other, the national goal includes locations in Sabah and Sarawak, and is not limited to fast chargers or just chargers along expressways.
