Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has announced that the KL International Airport (KLIA) Aerotrain will undergo scheduled overnight maintenance works over a two-week period starting 18 August. The works, aimed at optimising the system’s performance, will take place between midnight and 5am daily to minimise disruption during peak travel hours.
Managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani said the maintenance schedule is based on real-time data and operational insights gathered since the Aerotrain’s re-launch. He described the works as essential to ensuring the system’s responsiveness, safety, and long-term reliability.

Passengers travelling between the Main Terminal Building and the Satellite Building during these hours will be transported via airside shuttle buses instead. MAHB has advised travellers to follow directional signage and guidance from airport staff while the works are in progress.
KLIA is also introducing new technical improvements, including the installation of an Automatic Vehicle Wash Plant (AVWP) on the Aerotrain track. This will replace the previous manual washing process and marks the first time such equipment is being used for the airport’s train system. According to Malaysia Airports, these enhancements are part of ongoing efforts to maintain infrastructure quality and ensure dependable passenger service at KLIA.

The airport’s aerotrain service resumed operations on 1 July 2025 after a two-year delay. However, its return faced fresh challenges, with several disruptions reported since, which MAHB said were promptly resolved.
