Apple is expected to release the next generation MacBook Pro next year with minimal upgrades beyond the M5 chip. Instead, the model after that will feature a revamped design that is both thinner and lighter. Of course, the main attraction of this M6 MacBook Pro will reportedly be the display. The company is apparently looking to replace the mini LED screens used in its current Macs.
Previous rumours have claimed that Apple will equip this model with a tandem OLED panel. Aside from needing less power, the upgraded display might come with a higher contrast ratio and more vivid colours. There may also be improvements in screen brightness too. Samsung Display is expected to be the sole supplier of the OLED displays for the Apple MacBook Pro.
While the new display might bring a slew of upgrades, there may be one more noteworthy change coming to the M6 MacBook Pro. According to Omdia analysts, Apple is doing away with the notch completely.
A likely replacement for this is a punch-hole for the webcam, with a Dynamic Island similar to what is seen on the company’s iPhone models. This feature will have to be adapted to suit the MacBook Pro, but it could be used to display timers or notifications.
Of course, this is still speculation at this point. Apple has yet to release the M5 MacBook models, so it is safe to assume that we won’t see the M6 versions anytime soon. They might launch at the end of 2026, provided the delayed M5 Macs don’t influence Apple’s release timeline.
