The Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) line, otherwise known as the Shah Alam line, might not be on track to begin operating on 30 September. While the rail project was previously said to be close to completion, it seems that the LRT line is still not quite ready for commuters yet.
In a Facebook update posted last week, Prasarana announced that LRT3 is “currently conducting 24-hour train testing and commissioning activities”. Currently, the post does not specify an exact date for the completion of these processes, but some users have pointed out that the post was edited. A previous version apparently mentions a 31 October deadline, marking yet another delay in the launch.
That said, it is uncertain whether the line will be operational by the end of October either. According to The Star, Prasarana did not offer any details on passenger service commencement beyond saying that the project team is “still conducting some key tests before they can conclude”.
LRT3 was originally announced back in 2016, with a total of 26 stops planned. However, this was later revised to 20, including two interchange stations. The first of these is Bandar Utama, which connects travellers to the MRT Kajang Line. The other is Glenmarie, which links to the LRT Kelana Jaya Line. The Shah Alam line is a much anticipated service as it is expected to improve connectivity between Klang and Petaling Jaya.
As a refresher, here is the list of stops that will operate along the line:
- Bandar Utama
- Kayu Ara
- BU 11
- Damansara Idaman
- SS7
- Glenmarie
- Kerjaya
- Stadium Shah Alam
- Dato Menteri
- UiTM Shah Alam
- Bandar Baru Klang
- Pasar Besar Klang
- Jalan Meru
- Klang
- Taman Selatan
- Seri Andalas
- Klang Jaya
- Bandar Bukit Tinggi
- Johan Setia
