The Immigration Department (JIM) has announced MyVISA 2.0, an upgraded digital visa platform designed to streamline the visa application process for foreign nationals. This new system is set to go live on 1 August 2025.
According to JIM director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, the system uses artificial intelligence to speed up the visa application process. He went on to say that the use of AI eliminates the need for applicants to visit the office in person.
MyVISA 2.0 is an improved iteration of the original system introduced back in 2021. Among the new features introduced in this version are optical character recognition (OCR) for scanning documents, real-time notifications, smart automation, as well as a dedicated mobile app.
The new platform enables the visa application process to be fully digital, from passport scanning and document uploads to real-time tracking and eVisa approvals with QR codes. Interviews can also be conducted virtually if necessary. Additionally, a live chat feature is available for further support.

JIM asserts that the enhanced system allows for a visa application process that is faster, more secure, and efficient. Furthermore, MyVISA 2.0 is thought to meet the public’s expectations and address the growing need for accessible government services. The fully digital system enables applicants to obtain their visas without needing to visit Malaysian missions overseas.
