Xiaomi recently launched its new Bone Conduction Headphones 2 earphones. As per its namesake, the earphones utilise bone conduction technology to deliver sound via vibrations to the back of the skull, which then travel to the inner ear.
As such, the Bone Conduction Headphones 2 can be submerged underwater to a depth of five metres, and continuously for a period of two hours. As with the majority of bone conduction earphones, the brand is clearly marketing this audio accessory to consumers who have an affinity for water, as well as folks who like the outdoors, based on the marketing material on the official product page.

The Bone Conduction Headphones 2 appears to have an internal storage capacity for independent music playback, which makes sense for swimmers, since connecting the earphones to a smartphone while in the water wouldn’t be practical. Interestingly, the marketing material states that the internals use a large driver unit but falls short of providing additional details about it. For power, it houses a 165mAh battery that Xiaomi says can last up to 12 hours.
The Xiaomi Bone Conduction Earphones 2 are currently only available in China, and in two colours: white and black. The earphones retails for RMB699 (~RM413). At the time of writing, there is still no word from the brand about global availability.
