There are plenty of rumours floating about regarding Samsung’s tri-fold phone. From the rumoured G Fold name to the trademarked Z Trifold, the only consistent thing we know is that it folds inward. Perhaps unfortunately, depending on your perspective, it’s not the first of its kind to see the light of day. This is because it has been beaten to the punch by the Tecno Phantom Ultimate G Fold concept.
The main display if this concept foldable measures in at 9.94 inches, making it larger than some tablets. When folded though, the right segment – the thinnest of the three – folds over the main display, with the left segment going over that, presenting the user with the cover display. Because of this, the left hinge also leaves a noticeably larger gap when folded. That being said, it’s well-hidden enough when completely unfolded that you’d wonder where the hinge came from.
It’s also obvious that the Tecno Phantom Ultimate G Fold concept is not meant to be used only partially unfolded. There’s no cover display on the right segment, which means you’ll only be left with a third of the main display if you only unfold the left segment. And speaking of unfolding, it measures in at 11.49mm when folded, and 3.49 when fully unfolded.
Tecno didn’t completely reveal details about its Phantom Ultimate G Fold concept, such as its battery capacity and camera setup. The former is only reported as “over 5,000mAh”, while the latter is a visible, but otherwise unspecified, triple camera config. This sits at the top of the middle segment, so you can use it folded or otherwise without much issue. Other details left under wraps is the cover display, as well as the chipset it runs.
This would be the second tri-fold concept by the Chinese manufacturer, following the Tecno Phantom Ultimate 2 concept from 2023. The company says that it will be showcasing the newer Phantom Ultimate G Fold in MWC 2026, but it remains to be seen when a production model will appear.
