LEGO and Hasbro are not exactly unlikely partners, seeing as the two have brought us brick Optimus Prime before. The have joined forces again to bring another brick Transformer to market, this time a Decepticon. More specifically, it’s Soundwave, and it speaks, sort of.
Coming in at 1,505 pieces and standing 13 inches tall when built, it’s only slightly shorter than Optimus Prime. But what makes LEGO Soundwave special is that it comes with an electronic sound brick with “specially recorded voice and sound effects”. This means snippets of the cartoon character speaking plus some sound effects.
Something else that makes LEGO Soundwave a bit different is that you actually get three Transformers in the box. The other two are Ravage and Laserbeak, both of which transform into cassette tapes that can fit inside Soundwave’s chest compartment. Naturally, Soundwave itself can transform into its cassette player mode without disassembly once you’ve put the whole thing together.
According to the LEGO Malaysia page, Soundwave will be available starting 4 August, for a price of RM799.90. Which makes it slightly more expensive than Optimus Prime. You can find out more about the set, as well as listening to some of the sound samples, by hitting the link before.
