Insta360 has announced the Mic Air, the brand’s first compact wireless microphone. Designed for the company’s cameras, the microphone does not require any adapters or receivers when used with the X5. The device also weighs only 7.9g and has a magnetic clip for easy attachment to clothing.
Among the key features of the Mic Air is the 24bit/48kHz audio quality with built-in noise reduction. The microphone also includes a removable windshield for clearer sound. Additionally, the device comes with a remote control allowing the user to start and stop recording, as well as toggle noise reduction and the mute function.
The claimed battery life of the microphone is 10 hours with noise cancellation disabled. When connected to the X5, the battery lasts roughly 7.5 hours. As for transmission range, the maximum is 300m when used in an open, unobstructed, and interference-free environment.
According to Insta360, the Mic Air can connect wirelessly to not only the X5, but also the Ace Pro 2, Flow Series, as well as smartphones. For those requiring wider compatibility, the company has provided a transmitter and receiver bundle, the 1 TX + 1 RX Bundle, as an option. The bundle is compatible with most modern smartphones, tablets, computers, and Insta360 Flow Series gimbals.

The Insta360 Mic Air is priced at US$49.99 (~RM209) for the transmitter only, while the 1 TX + 1 RX Bundle retails for US$69.99 (~RM292). The brand is also releasing the Ultimate Creator Bundle, which is a kit that includes the microphone and the Bullet Time Selfie Stick 2.0 and Quick Reader. For the time being, local availability is uncertain.
