HP has introduced two products for its workstation catalogue, and while one is a laptop and another is, technically speaking, a desktop, both are fairly portable if you choose to use them that way. Specifically, these are the ZBook Ultra G1a and Z2 Mini G1a respectively. Beyond the G1a in their names, another thing they have in common is that they are both powered by AMD Ryzeon AI Max processors, alongside their integrated graphics.
Starting with the more straightforward of the two, the HP ZBook Ultra G1a laptop, your chipset choices range from the AMD Ryzen AI Max 385 to the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395. The laptop comes in a 14-inch form factor, but your resolution choices are between a 1,920 x 1,200 and a 2,880 x 1,800 OLED touch screen. Maximum memory support goes all the way up to 128GB LPDDR5X, and storage options range from 512GB to 4TB m.2 SSD.
For ports, the HP ZBook Ultra G1a has a USB-C port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-A port and a HDMI 2.1 port. Naturally you get a range of Windows 11 version as the pre-installed operating system, but the company also lists Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 as options as well. With all that in mind, the laptop has a starting price of RM7,799, and is available starting today.
Moving on to the HP Z2 Mini G1a desktop, despite the product category it is diminutive enough to carry around, as it measures in at 8.55 x 16.8 x 20cm and weighing in at 2.3kg. Chipset choices here range from the AMD Ryzen AI Max 380 to the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 395 as well. Memory options top out at the familiar 128GB LPDDR5X, but SSD options starts at a lower 256GB while still going all the way up to 4TB of M.2.
Available ports on the HP Z2 Mini G1a include a USB-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, five USB-A ports, two mini DisplayPorts 2.1two Thunderbolt 4 ports and an RJ45 LAN port. You have a wide range of optional ports as well from additional USB-A and USB-C ports to more LAN ports. On the flip side, OS choices are more limited, with Windows 11 Pro, Windows 11 Home and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS being listed, though it is also noted to be Linux ready. You can get all this, as well as a keyboard and mouse bundled, for RM5,999 starting today.
