Bolt, one of the newer e-hailing players in Malaysia, has brought in a new safety feature called pick-up codes. While the feature was introduced in other markets a while back, it has now started promoting it as a new optional safety tool here.
The purpose of pickup codes is to make sure that the right passengers get in the cars of the right drivers. As such, when you enable the feature, you can compare the code with the driver before entering the car, so that you have the peace of mind of knowing you did not accidentally enter the wrong vehicle.
You can enable the feature by going into the safety settings of the Bolt app and you even choose to only have it turned on for night trips from 6PM to 9AM. As an added measure, the app lets you list down trusted contacts who the company can get in touch with in case of emergencies.
Bolt has been rolling out new features at tremendous speeds since it started operating here last November. It has recently released feature to let you schedule rides up to 90 days in advance with automated flight tracking for airport pickups. Moreover, it is currently the only e-hailing app in the country that includes toll fees in its ride fares.
