Smart, a well-known name in Malaysia’s electric vehicle industry, previewed its Smart #5 and Smart #1 Brabus edition yesterday at the Malaysia Auto Show (MAS 2025). The #5 is offered as a mid-size electric SUV and the Brabus #1 is only limited to 20 units in Malaysia.
Now, let us see what these models have to offer starting with the Smart #5. In terms of design, the mid-size SUV features oblong design elements at the front, rear, and on the side mirrors. Moreover, it also has a boxy silhouette and short front and rear overhangs. Other design elements include a panoramic halo roof and sleek frameless doors.
The interior has a one-button Comfort mode that adjusts the driver and co-driver seats for relaxation. It also features 256 ambient colours. There is also the 13-inch dual display unit which basically looks like a mini television. Moreover, the cockpit is powered by the AMD V2000 chip which powers the Smart OS. Additionally, there is a 72-litre frunk and 1,530 litres of storage at the rear.
As for other details on the powertrain and pricing of the car, the automaker has been tight-lipped about it. However, as we reported before, the Smart #5 comes in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrains.
The RWD comes in two versions: one delivering 340 PS (250 kW), while the other delivers 363 PS (267 kW). As for the AWD, the variant comes with a dual-motor configuration – one at the front and the other at the back – giving out a total of 587 PS (432 kW).
Coming to the Smart Brabus #1, it is developed in collaboration with Brabus Kuala Lumpur. In terms of design, it features a custom aerodynamic kit with front and rear spoilers, front fascia inserts, and rear diffuser. The suspension is also lowered by 35mm, which gives it the sportier look. To complete the Brabus look, it comes with 19-inch BRABUS Monoblock Z wheels with a bold 10-spoke design.
The interior has the BRABUS-red stitching and piping. Moreover, there is the backlit Brabus scuff plates and aluminum pedal pads. It also has a 9.2-inch instrument cluster, 10-inch head-up display, and 12.8-inch infotainment in the cockpit. The Brabus #1 shares the same powertrain as the Smart #3, which means the car is offered as an AWD with two motors at each axle. The car delivers an output of 428 hp with 543 Nm of torque.
As of now, the pricing of the Brabus #1 is expected to be revealed by June 2025. However, through a spokesperson it was found that the estimated price is RM280,000.
