Secondhand e-commerce platform Carousell has introduced a new promotion feature called Buyer Magnet. Meant to boost the visibility of your listing, similar to its existing features such as Bump and Spotlight, the new tool differentiates itself by having a fixed fee that is not charged upfront.
When the feature is activated, your listings will be placed in high-visibility areas and showcased to buyers who Carousell thinks are most likely to be interested in the product. Available in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, Buyer Magnet charges a 2% fee for a successful sale, capped at RM100.
The fee is imposed if a listing with Buyer Magnet activated gets a Buyer Protection order, regardless of whether the transaction is subsequently refunded, canceled, or disputed, the marking of a listing as sold, or confirmation by the seller that a buyer was found through Carousell, whether the transaction occurred on or off the platform.
Using it requires linking a debit or credit card. Once the feature is activated, users will not be able to disable it, but it will be stopped if the item is not sold within 30 days. Do take note that if the listing price is reduced after the feature is set up, the fee will remain unchanged.
