Xiaomi now has at least two more smartphones in the pipeline with the Redmi A5 and the POCO C71. The two phones have made an appearance on the SIRIM database ahead of an official launch, indicating that they will be arriving here soon.
The A5 (model number 25028RN03A) and the C71 (model number 25028PC03G) were both listed on SIRIM on 17 February 2025. According to rumours, the upcoming devices are actually the same phone under different badges. This would not be surprising as Xiaomi has previously released several POCO phones in Malaysia that were rebranded versions of available Redmi models.
Currently, information regarding the A5 and C71 is sparse, but a listing reveals that they will support only 4G connectivity with optional NFC as well as run on Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0. Additionally, they are rumoured to be powered by a Unisoc T615 chipset.
For reference, its 5G predecessor, the Redmi A4, sports a 6.88-inch 720p LCD display. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip and is powered by a 5,160mAh battery that supports 18W charging. On the imaging side, it features a 50MP main camera alongside a 5MP ultra-wide lens and a depth sensor. It also comes with an IP52 rating for dust and water resistance.
