Xiaomi has just had a big launch revealing the 15 Ultra, and along with it, the company announced the local availability of its new flagship earbuds, the Buds 5 Pro. Similar to its home market of China, there are two variants available, namely a Bluetooth version and a Wi-Fi version.
Unlike the vanilla model, the Buds 5 Pro gets soft silicone tips. It also features a coaxial triple-driver setup with an 11mm dual-magnetic dynamic driver, a PZT tweeter, and a planar diaphragm unit. The additional Wi-Fi transmission doubles the standard Bluetooth transmission rate at speeds up to 4.2Mbps, although it is currently only compatible with the Xiaomi 15 series. On the other hand, both models support Qualcomm’s aptX Lossless codec.
The flagship earbuds get adaptive active noise cancellation with the ability to cancel out up to 55dB of background noise, along with spatial audio feature and head tracking. For the battery life, both variants get a total usage time of up to 40 hours with the case, but the Bluetooth version can only last eight hours on a single charge while the Wi-Fi model can last up to 10 hours due to its bigger batteries.
The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro starts from RM799 for the standard Bluetooth variant while the Wi-Fi model gets a price tag of RM899. It can be purchased through the brand’s Shopee and Lazada pages, along with a promo for a RM100 discount and three months of free Spotify Premium from 3 March to 6 April.
