Those who enjoy watching sports may have had their subscription to Astro for that very reason, and have cultivated habits as to which channels to tune into for specific things. That may require some readjusting at the end of next week, as the paid TV provider has announced changes to the names and channel numbers of its sports channels, starting 17 October 2024.
Some of the changes include the channels called SuperSport 1 & 2, which will be called Premier League 1 & 2, with channel numbers 811 and 812, respectively. Similarly, SuperSport 4 will simply be known as Football, taking up channel 814.
In the same vein, channel 815 will be called Astro Badminton, with the sport being covered being self explanatory. Then there’s Sport Plus, channel 817, which covers “a wide range of live sports from NBA action, thrilling UFC fights and WWE drama”.
Beyond name changes and channel number reassignment, Astro says that viewing experience for subscribers will otherwise remain unchanged. The broadcaster claims that it will in fact be enhanced, with “improved channel organisation and a clearer focus on each sport’s coverage”, as well as “easy access and navigation”.
