Anker, the brand that’s now also known for its audio products as well as power banks, has announced a recall for three products under the latter category. The company cites a fire hazard risk due to a manufacturing defect. The company notes that “a small number of batteries”, specifically those used in products made between 3 January and 17 September, are affected.

The models affected are the 334 MagGo Battery (PowerCore 10K), the plain Power Bank and the MagGo Power Bank. Considering the very similar sounding names, perhaps their model numbers of A1642, A1647 and A1652 respectively would be a better identifier. For additional context, these are priced at RM279, RM349 and RM299 respectively on the brand’s store on Shopee.

The announcement also include images to help you find their serial number, which you can the use to identify if the product you own is among those affected from the same web page. If your power bank is among the affected units, the company naturally says to stop using them immediately. Beyond that, you’ll need to have your proof of purchase on hand, as well as a photo of the model number of the affected power bank.

We’ve reached out to a rep of Anker Malaysia, who says that there will be a separate announcement for a local recall program coming soon. As a side note, there was a similar recall last year, affecting the 535 Power Bank at the time.
