HMD has launched yet another lineup of smartphones under its own brand, with the latest one being the Crest series. Made up of two device, the vanilla model as well as the Max model are entry level devices sold with affordable price tags, similar to the Pulse series.
The standard Crest and the Crest Max are entry-level 5G phones with a 6.67-inch 1080p OLED display that provides a 90Hz refresh rate. Both phones run on the Unisoc T760 chipset, but the former gets only 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage while the latter is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage — there is a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
For imaging, the vanilla model carries a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor, while the Max features a 64MP primary lens, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens, although both house 50MP selfie shooters. Powering the duo are 5,000mAh batteries with support for 33W charging.
The series comes with “Gen 1 repairability”, meaning that the screen, battery, charging port, and back panel can be easily repaired at home with a toolkit. As for pricing, the Crest retails at INR14,500 (~RM806) while the Crest Max costs INR16,500 (~RM918). There is no word yet on the lineup’s availability in other markets.
