LG Electronics has introduced what it calls the “first wireless OLED TV in the world,” which is now available in South Korea. Known as the Signature OLED M (model number 97M3), the new display is virtually completely free of cables, with the only exception being the power cord. Nevertheless, such a setup would please even the fussiest of home theatre enthusiasts due to the minimum amount of wires involved.

The LG Signature OLED M features a massive 97-inch display, which is capable of producing up to 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) images with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This is made possible thanks to the included Zero Connect Box that handles the audio and visual (AV) transmissions to the TV at a distance of up to 10 metres away – provided that it is placed in a direction that’s facing the screen.

While the TV itself is mostly free from cables, the same can’t be said for its companion. In fact, the Zero Connect Box is where most of the wired connections such as HDMI 2.1, USB, RF, and LAN will take place. Apart from feeding data to the TV through the air, the unit handles wireless communications as well, including for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The box is also powered by LG’s proprietary wireless AV transmission solution, which the company claims is able to transmit large amounts of data up to three times the speed of the existing Wi-Fi 6E standard. Additionally, the onboard “Zero Connect” wireless tech can support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and even has an adjustable antenna to ensure an optimal and seamless transmission of image and sound.

For South Korea, the new LG Signature OLED M is priced at a staggering KRW45,800,000 (~RM160,000), and is slated to be released for the global market later this year. Despite this, it is still unclear whether the TV will also be making its way to Malaysia at this current time.
