Apple has seemingly begun to hire staff members for its upcoming retail store in Malaysia. This is based on multiple listings on the company’s dedicated recruitment website, Jobs at Apple.
These listings which are dated today, came just days after an image that claimed to provide the first glimpse of the Apple Store Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) made its way online. Apple’s plan to establish a retail presence in the newly developed business district was first rumoured back in 2021 although we have been hearing whispers of Apple Store Malaysia since 2016.
First highlighted by Twitter user @techsupremo, there are currently 11 posts listed under the Apple Retail Store category for Malaysia. The list includes the Manager, Store Leader, Technical Specialist, Business Expert, and of course, personnel for Genius Bar which has been called the heart and soul of an Apple Store by the company’s former SVP of Retail Operations, Ron Johnson.
Another interesting point about all these listings is that they are apparently not meant just for a single location. All 11 positions have mentioned that they are for “various locations within Malaysia” but given the rumours we have heard so far, Kuala Lumpur would likely be the first outpost.
While there are plenty of Apple Authorised Reseller outlets throughout Southeast Asia, there are only five Apple Store locations in the entire region with the first location being Orchard Road in Singapore which was opened in 2017. Since then, Apple established two more retail presence over there and has also launched two more Apple Store outlets in Thailand.
Meanwhile, if you are interested to become part of the first Apple Store in Malaysia, check out the listings on Jobs at Apple’s website right here. With that, we wish you all the best.
