Originally teased back in May at the company’s I/O event, Google today has finally launched the new Pixel 7 Series. Powered by the equally new Google Tensor G2 processor, the new series still followed the tradition by having two models including the standard Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro.

As you may know, one of the advantages that the Pro variant has over the standard model is a larger screen size and things are no different for the Pixel 7 Pro. This particular model is equipped with a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED that has native QHD+ (3129 x 1440) resolution and a 120Hz variable refresh rate.

On the other hand, the standard Pixel 7 features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a variable refresh rate that maxes out at 90Hz. The screens and the back area of both IP68-rated 5G devices are protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

It is also interesting to note that the Pro model has a polished aluminium frame while Google has opted for a matte finish for the aluminium frame on the standard variant. The company also provided the Pixel 7 Pro with more LPDDR5 RAM at 12GB as opposed to 8GB on the vanilla Pixel 7.

Pre-installed with Android 13, both phones feature the same 50MP PD Quad Bayer main camera that also has an f/1.85 lens, laser autofocus, and both optical & electronic image stabilization. They also have a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera but the version on Pixel 7 Pro has been enhanced with an autofocus feature.

The Pro variant also carries an additional 48MP Quad Bayer PD telephoto camera that has 5x optical zoom and 30x Super Res Zoom capabilities. Both devices rely on the same 10.8MP f/2.2 fixed focus camera for selfie duties.

The Pixel 7 Pro also has the upper hand when it comes to battery capacity with 5000mAh versus the 4355mAh battery on the standard Pixel 7. Charging-wise, they can support power ratings of up to 23W and 21W, respectively for both wired and wireless charging.

As for its availability, Google has not yet chosen Malaysia as the official market for the Pixel phone (or any other Made By Google devices, for that matter). Hence, if you really wanted any of these phones so bad, you may have to reach out to your favourite parallel importer or get them directly from official Pixel markets.

In the United States, the Pixel 7 with 128GB goes for USD599 (~RM2,777) for 128GB while the 256GB version can be obtained for USD699 (~RM3,241). The pricing for the Pixel 7 Pro starts at USD899 (~RM4,168) for the 128GB variant while the 256GB and 512GB options are listed at USD999 (~RM4,632) and USD1,099 (~RM5,095), respectively.

For those who are wondering about the pricing of the Pixel 7 Series in Singapore which is the nearest official Pixel market to Malaysia, the Pixel 7 128GB carries a price tag of SGD999 (~RM3,243) and one can get their hands on the 256GB version for SGD1,129 (~RM3,665). Google somehow decided not to release the 512GB variant of Pixel 7 Pro in Singapore while the 128GB version is priced at SGD1,299 (~RM4,217) and the 256GB option goes for SGD1,449 (~RM4,711).
