The new Garmin Venu Sq 2 and Venu Sq 2 Music Edition GPS smartwatches are now available in Malaysia. As you may recall, both wearables initially launched for the global market earlier this month – each featuring improvements in hardware and features over their predecessors.
To recap our previous report, the Venu Sq 2 series features a larger 1.41-inch AMOLED touch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, while surrounding it is an aluminium case. Combined, these provide both smartwatches a water resistance rating of up to 5 ATM. The vanilla model is available in Shadow Grey, White Gold and Cool Mint, while the Venu Sq 2 Music Edition is offered in Black, Ivory Gold, and French Grey Gold colour options.
As with Garmin’s catalogue of smartwatches, the two newer devices come with built-in support for GPS, GLONASS and Galileo satellite positioning systems, and also health and fitness tracking capabilities. In regards to the latter, these include tracking functionalities for heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, sleep, stress, and women’s health, as well as the brand’s signature Body Battery monitoring tool and the Health Snapshot function. Additionally, the duo is equipped with over 25 sports modes for activities such as cycling, running, tennis, yoga and so on. Paired together with the Garmin Connect app, users can further add more than 1,600 exercises or simply download a pre-made workout.
Being smartwatches, the two wearables also feature typical watch-to-phone functions such as phone finder, notifications, and music playback control. Meanwhile, exclusive to the Venu Sq 2 Music Edition is the ability to store up to 500 songs for offline and phone-free listening, which supports streaming services such as Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer.
Both Venu Sq 2 models feature improved battery life over their predecessors. Garmin claims both devices are capable of providing users with up to 12 days of usage on a single charge, or up to 26 hours with GPS functions activated. The series is also able to keep 200 hours of activity data and while connected to your phone.
The new Venu Sq 2 and Venu Sq 2 Music Editions are now available locally, and are priced at RM 1,230 and RM 1,480 respectively. Those interested may purchase either model via all Garmin Brand Stores and authorised retailers nationwide, as well as through the brand’s official online stores on Shopee, Lazada, and AECO e-store.
