Maybank has announced that a number of its services will not be available to customers on 11 December. Based on the list that the bank has released through Facebook and Twitter, there are plenty of critical services that will be involved in the downtime.
Among them includes Maybank2u website and app as well as several other mobile apps that belonged to the bank including MAE, Wealth, and QRPay Biz. The downtime will also affect ATM, online payments and debit card transactions:
Fortunately, the downtime will only last from 11:30 PM to 11:59 PM. As you can see in the announcement above, Maybank didn’t provide any reason to justify the scheduled downtime although given the timing, it may be possible that the bank could be doing some maintenance work in preparation for the 12.12 sale.
However, we do feel the timing is rather too close for comfort. Hence, if you are planning to quickly snatch a deal or two from the 12.12 sale right after the stroke of midnight, we do suggest you to consider alternative payment methods beforehand.
