Almost a month ago, we have reported that Apple is preparing to release its MagSafe Duo Charger in Malaysia. Things have since changed as the new charger is now available for purchase through Apple Malaysia’s online store today.
In case you’re wondering what it is all about, the MagSafe Duo Charger is one of the two first-party MagSafe charger options from Apple at the moment. As per its name, it is designed to charge two devices at once although you can see that those charging pads have different sizes.
This is because the bigger pad is a full-size MagSafe charging pad while the smaller pad is predominantly designed for Apple Watch which is why users can pop it out, so that watches that have loop-styled bands can still utilise the charger. Regardless of that, both pads can also be used to charge any Qi-compatible devices although naturally, they will be unable to latch to the MagSafe magnetic mount.
At the same time, the MagSafe Duo Charger can be folded which make it easy to store and carry around. However, the charger does not come with a power brick which means you must already own a USB-C charger or purchase it separately.
You also need a power brick with 27W or higher rating in order to get its full wireless charging speed of 14W. As a comparison, the singular dedicated MagSafe Charger requires the less powerful 20W power adapter to hit 15W wireless charging speed.
Furthermore, let’s not forget the price tag of the MagSafe Duo Charger which has been listed on Apple Malaysia’s website for RM 589. Nevertheless, given its appearance there, you can expect the charger to be released into local Apple retailers soon enough.
