Samsung has announced its third generation of NVMe-based SSD. The Samsung 970 PRO and 970 EVO continues the company’s push to deliver high speed data transfers for gamers and enthusiasts alike in their systems.

The new Samsung 970 PRO and 970 EVO receives upgrades from their predecessor in terms of transfer speeds – both for read and write. The 970 PRO now features sequential read speed of up to 3,500 MB/s and sequential write of up to 2,700MB/s, which is up from the 960 Pro read/write speeds of 3100MB/s and 1,900MB/s respectively.

Similar read/write speeds on the 970 EVO (3,500MB/s read and 2,700MB/s write) coupled with a large buffer size of up to 78GB for the Intelligent TurboWrite technology means it can last longer and write more consistently. Both SSDs use Samsung’s newest V-NAND technology and Phoenix controller that has been redesigned to deliver top-tier performance.

Consumers can look forward to the new Samsung 970 Pro and 970 EVO on store shelves starting from May 7. Samsung will be offering both SSDs in multiple capacities: 250GB, 500GB, 1TB and 2TB for the EVO, 512GB and 1TB capacities for the PRO. Prices will start from US$329.99 (RM 1290) for the EVO and US$ 119.99 (RM 459) for the PRO.
