Released in Malaysia back in September, the Amazfit Smart Sports Watch made its reputation throughout the world as a fitness-oriented smartwatch with built-in GPS that is easy on the wallet. Also known as Amazfit Pace in western markets, its creator, the Xiaomi-backed Huami has recently unveiled the successor for the smartwatch.

Simply referred to as the Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 2, the new model carries a brand-new physical design that looks more muscular than its predecessor and features carbon fiber pattern even though it still made from ceramic. Huami has also added three physical buttons that were crafted from 316L stainless steel on right side of the watch.

Internally, the Smart Sports Watch 2 is running on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor together with 512MB RAM, and 4GB internal storage with around half of it can be accessed by users. Once again, the GPS chip in the watch is supplied by Sony just like its predecessor.

At the same time, the Smart Sports Watch 2 also comes with swim tracking capability and able to withstand water depth of up to 50 meters. The device also features exercise analytics by the famed Finnish sports research organization Firstbeat that includes metrics such as VO2 max, Training Effect, and Training Load.

The new device can also by utilized by budding triathletes out there since the Smart Sports Watch 2 also comes a dedicated triathlon mode. Plenty of features from the original model such as Bluetooth music player, support for Alipay, optical heart rate sensor, and phone notifications together with battery life of up to 5 days under normal operation and 35 hours in GPS mode.

Huami has also announced another version of the device called Smart Sports Watch 2S which is equipped with sapphire crystal to protect its 1.34-inch touch display instead of the tempered glass on the standard model. Price-wise, the Smart Sports Watch 2 is priced at CNY 999 (about RM 616) while the 2S model costs CNY 1499 (about RM 926).

Unfortunately, there is no news regarding its release in Malaysia at the moment. Judging from the fact that the pre-order for the Smart Sports Watch 2 has just started and the 2S model will only be on sale next month, it is going to take some time before the device made its official debut in our market.
