Some iPhone X Reported to Have Green Line on Screen, and Distorted Audio on Earpiece

iPhone X Green Line of Death

It looks like the iPhone X may be experiencing some problems. Just last week, several users reported of a mysterious green line running down the side of their iPhone X’s brand new OLED display. Now, more users are reporting of a “crackling” or “buzzing” sound coming from the device’s front-facing earpiece speaker.

Last week, multiple iPhone X users shared pictures of their device with a bright green line on the side of the device. The problem wasn’t visible when they first got the iPhone X, and only appeared suddenly. From the many pictures, it looks like the line typically runs vertically along the far left or right side of the screen, but can show up elsewhere on the screen as well.

But the “green line of death” isn’t the only problems faced by the iPhone X. MacRumors also reports that over two dozens of users have reported of a crackling sound on the iPhone X’s front-facing earpiece speaker. The problem persists when users tries any kind of audio playback at high volume, be it for phone calls, music, videos, alarms and ringtone.

Fortunately, according to customers who have contacted the company, Apple has been replacing affected iPhone X units for free. The Cupertino company also appears to be collecting data for its engineers, hoping to diagnose the issues.

Still, it can be a little depressing when your brand new gadget that costs over RM5,000 runs into problems in its first week. Let’s hope that these problems are only isolated issues, and are not found in the batch that will be launched in Malaysia next Friday, 24 November 2017.
