Legoland Malaysia To Feature First Virtual Reality Rollercoaster

Legoland Malaysia is set to host the first Lego based virtual reality roller coaster in the world. It’s called The Great Lego Race, and involves setting park guests as one of give Lego racers. It’s also a good way to provide a full roller coaster experience without having to go outside.

The theme of the roller coaster is one familiar to anyone who has every played with Lego. Five racers, each with their own thematic vehicles, travel through a course littered with obstacles. Naturally, everything is made of Lego and is designed to evoke the feel of being in a world made completely of plastic bricks.

Legoland is also designing the queuing area to resemble a racing pit; complete with interactive elements to keep people entertained while they wait.

The Great Lego Race is scheduled to open in November at Legoland Malaysia, and will be taking up the space used by the “Project X” roller coasters. It should be noted that Legoland is designed mainly for children, and thrill seekers should probably look somewhere else to get their kicks. On the other hand, it’s a good place for Lego fans to enjoy their favourite brand.

Malaysia may be the first to see the Lego VR roller coaster, but it won’t be the last. Legoland Florida and Legoland Deutschland are scheduled to see The Great Lego Race open in 2018. Malaysia itself has seen quite a bit of extra attention from Lego over the past year; with the new 2017 Star Wars sets also being released in the country before anywhere else in the world.
