Update: OnePlus has announced that the OnePlus 5 will be officially available in Malaysia from 8 July.
The OnePlus 5 looks to be appearing on our shores soon. The latest flagship phone from OnePlus is now on pre-order on Lazada, with two variants made available. Distributor Brightstar expects to ship the devices by 11 July.
Local customers can look forward to both the 8GB RAM/128GB storage or 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant appearing in stores when the OnePlus 5 officially arrives. At the moment, the high specification version is selling for RM2688, while the more modest version has a price tag of RM2388.
The OnePlus 5 continues the trend of an increasing price point from OnePlus. A point that has not been lost on its loyal customers who feel that the company is no longer has the budget friendly outlook from its early days.
Despite this, the hardware of the OnePlus 5 may justify the inflation. The 5.5-inch display is backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile platform, while the memory and storage combination rivals that of far more premium smartphones.
