UPDATE: A good deal doesn’t hang around for long. The earphones are now sold out.
Xiaomi Malaysia has reduced the price of its popular Mi In Ear Headphones Pro by RM20, effective immediately. They’re still in stock at Xiaomi’s Malaysia online store, and at RM59, these are definitely one of the best earphones you can find in the market today at this price.
The price reduction has come around the same time as the reduction of another Xiaomi product, the Mi 4i smartphone. It is rather surprising, as the headphones have not been in Malaysia for more than a year – though it does hint that there may be a new version coming soon.
Earlier this year, Xiaomi introduced the successor to the Mi In Ear Headphones Pro, the Mi Piston Air (also known as the Capsule Earphone). It is a uniquely-designed pair of in-ears with the earbuds angled at 45 degrees for better comfort and sound isolation; because of the design, Xiaomi also calls it a “half in-ear” design. The back of the earbud has a transparent body, highlighting the metal body underneath.
Along the Kevlar-reinforced cables there is a set of buttons for playback controls, as well as for picking up calls. The cables also have a layer of TPE material, making them less prone to tangling.
The Mi Piston Air earphones are available in two colours: Black with silver accents, or White with gold accents. Both models are priced at 69 Yuan (about RM42) – the same as the Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro.
As usual, some retailers have already begun selling the model online from RM69.90 onwards in Lazada, 11Street, and even our forums. That said, Xiaomi has made no indication so far regarding any new products in Malaysia besides the Mi 5.
