We love Dota 2, and we know that some of the best players in Malaysia are actually those who are still studying. Here’s your chance to pit your skills against other students, and stand a chance to win big at the inaugural GamePlan Dota 2 Interschool Cyber Challenge!
With so many e-Sports competitions taking place these days, not many are actually catered just for students. Most tournaments also take place at cyber cafes, or more exotic locations. GamePlan Dota 2 Interschool Cyber Challenge aims to change all that, by bringing it (almost) to your doorstep.
Part of the larger GamePlan 2 grand finale scheduled for October 22-23 2016, the GamePlan Dota 2 Interschool Cyber Challenge is a series of smaller tournaments held within the compounds of several tertiary institutions across Peninsular Malaysia. There will be a total of eight locations, including popular institutions in the Klang Valley, Penang, Nilai, Melaka and Johor Bahru.
Winners from each institution will not only win prizes, but they will qualify to compete in the grand final in October, pitting their skills against winners from other universities and an open qualifer scheduled to kick off in August 2016.
The first leg of the GamePlan Dota 2 Interschool Cyber Challenge takes place this weekend (6-8 june 2016) at Help University. This three-day event will also see other fun activities for other gamers.
For example, you can try out VR gaming at one of the stations. VR-ready MSI gaming laptops will be on hand with Oculus Rift headsets, giving you a chance to have a go at the future of gaming.
There’ll also be a special booth from Hotlink, where you can purchase top-ups to redeem game credits from Steam, Garena, and more at discounted rates. Another booth lets you show your skills in a 1-on-1 battle in Hearthstone, or with an invited gamer in Dota 2.
Finally, you can also try your hand at racing games in the time attack booth. Clock in the fastest time of the event, and you’ll walk away with mystery prizes from Armaggeddon.
There will be more activities planned during the event, including mystery giveaways and meet-and-greet sessions. Not to forget, admission for the event (and the Dota 2 tournament itself) is free!
For more information, head on to the official event page here, where you’ll find a link to register your team as well as the attractive prize pools. Do note that each team must have at least 3 students from one institution, and the remaining two can be from any other institution.
