Lazada’s e-commerce solution has just gotten one step better, with the company announcing that same-day delivery is now available for a wide selection of products for Malaysian consumers.
The company has been testing “express delivery” for several weeks prior to the announcement, which promises next-day delivery within the Klang Valley for a flat fee. Now, Lazada has gone one step further with the official rollout of same-day delivery.
Lazada’s same-day delivery promises delivery within 6 hours for orders made before 1pm on Mondays to Saturdays. This delivery option is only applicable to orders made in the Klang Valley, and consumers can see the option listed in the product page itself (provided they have keyed in their delivery address postcode). Same-day delivery charges is a flat fee of RM15.
The ability to offer same-day delivery is largely due to the opening of Lazada’s latest Fulfilment Centre in Subang Jaya. It is 16 times larger than the company’s first warehouse, and features upgraded in-house order management systems that improve the overall shopping experience.
Naturally, the company is also working on expanding the same-day delivery service nationwide, though there is no set time frame.
On top of that, Lazada is also actively exploring the number of items available for same-day deliveries, which includes fast-moving consumables such as groceries.
Lazada is often seen as South East Asia’s answer to Amazon, which already offers same-day deliveries and free two-day shipping for its Prime members. With Alibaba’s purchase of a controlling stake at Lazada, we will likely be seeing plenty more exciting features for Malaysian online shoppers.
