After generating RM 67 million in revenue that were spawned from 227,000 successful transactions, we can safely say that the inaugural #MYCYBERSALE last year was a success. Hence, it is not surprising to see the initiative by Multimedia Development Corporation under its Digital Malaysia program made a return once again this year. However, if you somehow have just found out about it, what we have here is a quick guide on what you need to know about #MYCYBERSALE 2015.
Those who are not familiar with #MYCYBERSALE or very new to the idea of online shopping in Malaysia, you can think of it as an online equivalent to the annual 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival. The initiative aims to help increase the domestic eCommerce revenue and generate demand from consumers.
Shoppers can expect up to 90% discounts on variety of products from books to fashion to gadgets to travel and more. At the same time, there will be lucky draws for shoppers with more than RM 50,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs.
For this year, MDeC has extended #MYCYBERSALE period from three to five days. Since it started earlier this week, we are technically now right in the middle of it and shoppers have two more days to enjoy #MYCYBERSALE 2015 before it conclude on this Friday, 2 October.
According to MDeC, there are 400 online retailers participating in this year’s #MYCYBERSALE which is more than 40% increase than last year. Interestingly, this year’s also saw the inclusion of retailers from Singapore and Indonesia as #MYCYBERSALE 2015 is also targeting shoppers from neighboring countries.
Apart from retailers, MDeC has roped in Visa, DiGi, Maybank, Pos Malaysia, TM, 57square, eGentic, and MilkADeal: Cashback as premium partners for #MYCYBERSALE 2015. Being an initiative by a government agency, it also involved other agencies as well including Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative, and Consumerism; Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission; SMECorp, and CyberSecurity Malaysia.
