Celcom Zipit Chat Launch

We send a lot of messages everyday, most of which are private and confidential, and Celcom wants to help your messages stay that way. The telco today launched Zipit Chat, a new chat app that lets you send and receive SMS’s, chats and emails with “absolute privacy”. On top of that, there are additional security features like self-destruct and more.

Like most mobile messaging apps, you need to download it to your mobile device, and register your mobile number via the app to receive a pin. Once done, complete your registration by keying a 6-digit passcode and an optional username. You will also receive a unique ID to help keep your account protected.

The app allows you to chat, send/receive emails, make VoIP calls, and even keep “Secure Notes”. All the messages and notes within the app will be encrypted using AES256 encryption, which is one of the strongest encryption methods available and is even touted as “military grade”. The decryption key will only be available between the sender and receiver (works for group messages as well), so that your conversations are safe from prying eyes.

In addition to that, Celcom also added an extra level of security like prevent users from capturing screenshot of chats, self-destruct message that will disappear after a predetermined period of time, and an “invisible mode” that lets you hide the app so that people will not know that you are using Zipit Chat for your chats.

“Many of us communicate messages which can be interpreted as sensitive and classified information via our mobile devices. Such communication content need to be safeguarded, and access to sensitive information should be protected against unwarranted disclosure. To counter these concerns and in keeping momentum with its brand promise, Celcom Axiata Berhad has collaborated with a renowned content provider to design this application. We strongly believe that Zipit Chat will serve as beneficial to our customers who want to ensure the confidentiality of their communications flow is maintained, and at their fingertips.” – Zalman Afendy Zainal Abidin, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer of Celcom Axiata Berhad.

Zipit Chat is now available for download from the Google Play Store, and will be available for iOS devices next month. It costs RM10 a month but in conjunction with the launch, Celcom is offering the service for free until 22 November 2015 for Celcom subscribers, and is free till 22 October 2015 for non-Celcom subscribers. Zipit Chat is available for everyone to use.
