iflix Now Supports Chromecast, Enjoy TV Series and Movies on the Big Screen

iflix, the new video streaming service introduced just over a month ago, has now offered the feature its users have asked for the most: Chromecast support. The latest update released this week on Android and earlier today on iTunes has now turned the iflix app on iOS and Android to be “Cast-ready”.

This officially means that iflix can now be enjoyed on bigger TV screens, instead of just limited to your mobile device or PC. With Chromecast support, iflix users can “cast” whatever they’re watching on their phone to a HDTV with a connected Chromecast. As long as both the casting device and the Chromecast are connected to the same WiFi network, there shouldn’t be any issues using this feature.

Best of all, while the Android app was updated on the Play Store sometime last week, an update to the iOS version of the app released today means that all iflix users can now enjoy watching their favourite TV shows and movies on the their TVs beyond just mirroring or using HDMI cables. This is significant, because iflix can now legitimately be a proper living room entertainment service, which can be enjoyed by more than just one person at a time. For just RM10 a month (or RM96 a year), it isn’t likely to be too costly for most Malaysians.

In fact, with the Chromecast being officially offered on Maxis with proper warranty, this new feature on iflix could even spur more sales of Google’s smart dongle. It also means that users can free up their mobile devices for other uses.iflix Hands On 01

Based on our experience, all iflix users on Android should already be using the latest version (1.1.4) of the iflix app, though the iOS app on one of our colleague’s iPhone has not yet received the update, though it should be pushed soon, since the latest v1.1.28 is already on iTunes.
