Two men threw fit at Menara Maxis when they were able to buy only two Maxis VIP numbers instead of ten. In their rage, they threatened the sales representative then proceeded to splashing yellow paint at the service counter area.

The incident started last Saturday (18 April 2015) when two men came into the Maxis service centre in Jalan Ampang, wanting to purchase 10 Maxis VIP numbers. They were aged 45 and 57 and they made a living by selling used cars, special vehicle registration plates, and also VIP numbers to go along with it. Displeased with the fact that they could only purchase two VIP numbers at the time, they told the sales representative that they would be back for the rest of the VIP numbers on Tuesday (21 April 2015).

When they returned, they were not pleased that they still could not purchase the rest of the VIP numbers. This caused them to start shouting at the sales representative and splash yellow paint at the lobby area. Kuala Lumpur Crime Investigations Department Chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Zainuddin Ahmad has said that before the police’s arrival, they also supposedly called 10 of their friends to help in wreaking havoc at the Maxis centre. The police had to resort to tasers to apprehend one of the suspects.

The reason why they wanted to buy 10 VIP numbers were not disclosed, nor was the rationale of the choice of paint colour. Currently, the case is being handled and is undergoing investigations under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 427 for mischief.
