The immensely popular horror game, Five Nights at Freddy’s is set to get its own live action film. Warner Bros. Studios has picked up the rights to make a feature adaptation of the game, with three producers already working on the film.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is a survival horror game series about a security guard who’s trying to survive the night at the run-down Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza – a pizza restaurant where an animatronic animal band plays kid songs by morning, and goes on a killing spree by night. The game utilises a simple point and click mechanism, and the goal is to survive the night from being murdered by child-friendly robots.
Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment (The Ring), along with Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) will be the producers working on the film. The game’s creator, Scott Cawthon will also be assisting with the movie’s plot. Not only that, Adam Stone and Jay Ireland will be the executive producers as Jon Berg and Nik Mavinkurve will be overseeing the project for Warners.
The movie is still in its early stages but it is interesting to see a simple horror game like this being turned into a feature film. The true back story of Freddy Fazbear might even be revealed in the film. Only time will tell whether the movie will scare the bejeebers out of us just as much as the game did.
