A device with the name Nokia 1100 appeared in a performance test and it seems the device will be running on Android 5.0. It is still too early to tell whether it is really a device from Nokia and we still don’t know what form the device will take, but it bears the same name as the now-retro device.
GeekBench shows that this device will have a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT-6582 CPU and a surprisingly low 512MB of RAM. Rest of the details of the device are not shown but the MT-6582 CPU does support 720p screen, 8MP camera image processing as well as 1080p FHD video playbacks at 30fps. Until then, the name as well as final specifications of the device might change.
All this could be the work of someone trying to be funny, but if it is indeed the real deal, then it shows that Nokia will continue to implement Android in its future devices. What we know for now is that the device will be running on Android Lollipop and we will have to wait and see what form this Nokia 1100 will take on. If the device is a smartphone, we won’t be seeing it anytime soon because of the company’s terms of deals with Microsoft. If it is not, we might see more of the device sooner than later.
