Xiaomi Ferrari Listed on GFXBench

It looks like Xiaomi is working on a new smartphone codenamed the Xiaomi Ferrari. The device recently made its way into GFXBench’s listing, showing off the specifications on board.

First up, if you were expecting a powerful device because of its rather powerful name, it’s not. Instead, it’s yet another upper mid-range smartphone from the Chinese company. The Ferrari comes with a 4.9” Full HD display, is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC clocked at 1.6Ghz, and has an Adreno 405 GPU on board. Like most mid-range smartphones, there’s 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage – the result in GFXBench does not indicate whether the storage is expandable or not.

Camera wise, the Xiaomi Ferrari has a 13MP rear camera with flash, HDR mode, autofocus, and can capture 1080p videos. The front on the other hand has a 5MP shooter and can capture FHD videos as well. Other specs include accelerometer, Bluetooth, GPS, single SIM and like most Xiaomi devices, it does not have NFC on board.

Finally, one interesting thing to note that it runs on Android 5.0.1 out of the box. The last we heard, Xiaomi is rolling out MIUI 6 based on Android 4.4 KitKat to its existing devices, and is still working on Android 5.0 Lollipop update. This means that this might be the first time we’re officially seeing Android Lollipop on a Xiaomi device.

The Xiaomi Ferrari is also listed on GeekBench database sporting similar specifications like a 1.65GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and runs on Android 5.0. If you’re into benchmark numbers, the single-core score at GeekBench is 692 while the multi-core score is 2,481.
