Twitter has recently started notifying its top users to not post pictures with Instagram. Instead, the microblogging site is advising these high-profile users to post images directly on its site. The logic? So that the image will actually appear.
Ever since Instagram removed Twitter integration on its site a couple of years ago, pictures posted on Instagram that is shared on Twitter will only display a link that directs back to the site. While this makes the Twitter account of the user looks particularly bland, most users still use Instagram instead of Twitter to post pictures.

This isn’t much of a surprise considering that Twitter is clearly struggling to keep up with Instagram’s number of active users. Just last month, Instagram reported that it had a whopping 300 million of active users, in comparison to Twitter’s 284 million of users. To add insult to injury, Instagram’s 300 million active users took into account users that were deleted in the “Instagram rapture.”
Instagram has been steadily growing ever since it was introduced back in October 2010, even after being acquired by Facebook in April 2012. Will this steady growth continue for Instagram? And should Twitter be worried about it?
