Moto X Getting the Lollipop Treatment Sooner than Expected

It looks like LG isn’t the only one pushing the Android 5.0 Lollipop to their phone. We reported earlier that LG started rolling out the 5.0 Lollipop update for the LG G3 this week, and Motorola is now doing the same for the Moto X.

An anonymous tipper has shared a screenshot of the update prompt on their Moto X. Among the new additions are a new and updated user interface thanks to Android 5.0 Lollipop’s material design, notifications on the lock screen, the ability to set up multiple user accounts, and even a dedicated flashlight option.

Coincidentally, both LG and Motorola were the manufacturers for the Nexus 5 and 6 respectively. Their experience with these phones could have made it possible for them to push the update to their own phones so quickly; even quicker than the Nexus phones which has yet to receive the update.

Phone manufacturers in the past did not pay this much attention to bringing the latest Android update to their phones. The fact that LG and Motorola have started pushing updates even before the Nexus phones are receiving it is no small feat.
