In our busy lives today, we often lose contact with our friends, and thanks to the Internet and social media, the distance between two people becomes further and further away. U Mobile has recently announced a “Project Buah Tangan” that aims to reconnect Malaysians through a simple practice that has been largely forgotten – the act of giving.
You know how certain website like Facebook that allow users to send virtual gifts to their friends? Project Buah Tangan is a similar concept but instead of virtual goods that means nothing more than just a fancier text message, it allows you to send real gifts to your friends, free of charge.
Launched on 9 July 2014, the campaign will run for two months. All you need to do is visit www.umobilebuahtangan.com, and grant the site access to your friends on Facebook. Once granted, you can begin your Buah Tangan by filling in some details, and selecting which friend(s) to present your gifts to. U Mobile Buah Tangan allows you to send one real gift Buah Tangan a day but if you really want to send more, you can also opt to send virtual gifts. There are only a limited number of locally-inspired of boxes of chocolates, candies and other goodies, so you’d better hurry up. On top of that, if you are a U Mobile subscriber, you will also stand a chance to win a 50” LED TV.
The process is pretty simple actually, all you need to do is fill in your particulars – your name, I/C number and mobile phone number. After that, a grid of randomly selected Facebook friends will appear and all you need to do is pick who to send to. If you don’t like the list or of none of them are residing locally, reshuffle again to get a new grid. Once sent, your friend will receive a Facebook notification to fill in his/her details to receive the Buah Tangan.
