M15, the next Core set for Magic: the Gathering is set to make its debut this weekend with the usual pre-release events. Building up to this, the digital version of the game, Magic 2015 – Duels of the Planeswalkers has arrived on the iPad as of today. It will be exclusive to the platform for a week before arriving on Android tablets and Steam on 16 July.
Magic 2015 – Duels of the Planeswalkers challenges players to “Hunt Bigger Game” and confront the deadliest hunter in the Magic Multiverse – Garruk Wildspeaker. Players must attempt to stop Garruk as he turns his instincts away from beasts of the wild to a new quarry – you.
The biggest change to the game over its previous incarnation is the option to fully customise your deck instead of being stuck playing of the pre-determined strategies provided. It should provide a proper simulation of actually playing tabletop M:tG. Magic 2015 will be drawing cards from the M15 core set, and give players a chance to try them out before this weekend.
Magic 2015 – Duels of the Planeswalkers is currently available for free on the iPad. As usual, players will have to end up spending money to unlock various campaign chapters and buying booster packs.
