Google has released its Remote Desktop app for Android, allowing you to remotely access your connected PC or Mac from an Android device. Previously, the Chrome Remote Desktop extension only allowed users to access their PC or Mac from another computer.
Similar to other remote desktop applications, Chrome Remote Desktop lets you access a PC or Mac from another computer in an easy and secure manner. PIN codes that users set up at the initial installation ensures that only you can remotely access a machine. This can be a very useful tool especially in situations that require you to access a file stored in your home computer and you’re away from home.
With the Android app, Google has extended remote access to millions of other devices, allowing you to access files easier when you’re on the run. Both the Chrome extension and the app are free, too, making it more convenient for users. It’s available for download at the Google Play Store, but unfortunately Malaysia is not yet supported for some reason. You can, of course, search and install the .apk file via third-party sites – just like the new Google Camera app, which is also not available for Malaysian users.
As for iOS users, Google has promised that it will be available sometime later this year.
