Long thought to be a pseudonym to protect his privacy, it seems like Satoshi Nakamoto – the famed yet secretive creator of Bitcoin – is indeed a man named Satoshi Nakamoto, currently residing in California. That’s if this new article by Newsweek to be believed.

While the writer’s pursuit to discover Satoshi’s true identity lead to the usage of questionable methods, the article which was written by Leah McGrath Goodman in indeed an interesting tale. As Satoshi refuses to directly discuss Bitcoin with Leah, most of the information in her article were acquired through Satoshi’s family members and ex-colleagues as well as the Bitcoin Foundation’s chief scientist, Gavin Andresen.

According to the article, Satoshi was born in Japan in 1949 and came to California when his mum migrated to United States 1959. Satoshi, a physics degree holder, apparently has spent most of his life working as electronics, computer, and software engineer. The article also stated that Satoshi has been working on some classified military and government projects throughout his career.

The article has also listed several key moments of Satoshi’s live that might be the reason behind the creation of Bitcoin. Then again, I would say the real truth is still out there since Satoshi didn’t directly (or rather openly) admitted his involvement in Bitcoin to Leah.

Check out the full article over at Newsweek.
