iOS 7 in car demo

Ever wondered what exactly is iOS in the Car and just how it will work in a vehicle? Thanks to several developers, you can now have a rough idea on how iOS in the Car looks, for Apple Maps at least. Developer Steven Throughton-Smith recently posted a video that demonstrates iOS in the Car by emulating a car’s display from his Mac based on the source code from iOS 7.0.3.

The video shows off how Apple Maps will look when in the car, with a fullscreen interface and translucent bars located on the top and bottom. Users can input their destination simply by speaking a search term, or perform a search using a connected iPhone or iPad.

The above is based on the source code from iOS 7.0.3 but if you would like to see how things will look on a newer interface, another developer, Denis Stas, managed to do a similar emulation using the source code from the beta version of iOS 7.1. It has a different interface based on iOS 7’s design while the first video still uses iOS 6’s style despite running on iOS 7 source code.

Of course, iOS in the Car is much more than a GPS device, according to Apple, it will also have apps for music, messaging and call-related tasks. iOS in the Car should be “coming soon” but if you do not wish for that, there are already Siri Eye Free in existing vehicles and as for things over at Google, the search Giant recently announced the Open Automotive Alliance to bring Android to cars.
