Microsoft Surface RT Arrives Into South East Asia Via Singapore This Week, Price Starts From RM 1658

Microsoft Surface RT

Just a month ago, we have discussed Microsoft’s move to expand the availability of Surface RT in several new markets including Singapore. Now, that moment has arrived as the company will be launching the ARM-based Windows RT tablet at the Challenger’s store in Funan DigitaLife Mall tomorrow.

Available with either 32GB or 64GB worth of internal storage, the pricing for stand-alone Surface RT in Singapore has been set at around RM 1,658 (SGD 668) and RM 1,980 (SGD 798) respectively. Users are also able to purchase it as a bundle with Touch Cover for RM 1,980 (SGD 798, 32GB) and RM 2,328 (SGD 938, 64GB); a savings of around RM 70 (SGD 28) to RM 95 (SGD 38) as the Touch Cover itself is individually priced at RM 417 (SGD 168). Additionally, other accessories for Surface such as the Type Cove and additional power supply as well as adapters for VGA and HDMI will also be released in Singapore alongside the tablet.

Does this means that Surface RT will eventually be released in Malaysia? The chances of that to happen looks rather slim, based on the fact that certain Microsoft-branded products such as Zune and Xbox 360 have never officially made it to our country. Then again, Windows RT doesn’t really depend on region-oriented services such as Xbox Live and other Windows RT-based products are already available in Malaysia.

Hence, we would not totally write it off our book but at the same time, we are not holding our breath to wait for its launch in our market.
