Yesterday, Samsung unveiled its new range of Series 7 all-in-one desktops that run on Windows 8. As we all know, Windows 8 does away with the venerable Start button, which, as many have pointed out, reduces Windows 8’s intuitiveness.
In its Series 7 AIOs, Samsung has included a nifty app called S Launcher, which is an app drawer located just above the taskbar. Interestingly, one of the default shortcut icons included in the S Launcher is the “Start Menu”, which is reminiscent of the good ol’ Start button from Windows.
Now, while the concept of adding a pseudo Start button to ease the transition into Windows 8 is a brilliant one, the S Launcher is not. For one thing, as Gizmodo pointed out, the S Launcher looks a dead ringer to the Apple Dock found in its OS X. And given the current circumstances, that’s not a really good idea.
