Facebook Now Supports Higher Resolution Images on Facebook Messenger

Higher Resolution Images on Facebook Messenger
Share on WhatsappShare on TelegramThreads

Facebook is currently updating its Messenger service, allowing users to send higher resolution images on Facebook Messenger. Chatting with your friends and family is no longer limited by text, send higher quality pictures of your recent family vacation, a party you attended, or even your lunch with your friends and family, and bring your conversations to life.

With the update, you can send and receive photos in Messenger at 4K resolution, or up to 4,096 x 4,096 pixels per image – the highest quality supported by many smartphones. Previously, Facebook Messenger only supported 2K photos. So, what difference does a 2K and 4K photo make? Not much, if you are looking from a small screen, but if you zoom in, it makes all the differences.

Higher Resolution Images on Facebook Messenger

The update will be available for Messenger app on iPhone and Android to people in the US, Canada, France, Australia, the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea. Facebook says that they are planning to roll out support for 4K images in Messenger to additional countries “in the coming weeks”, so let’s hope Malaysia is part of the list.

If you are currently in one of those countries listed, head on to the Play Store or App Store to update your Messenger app to the latest version. Once done, open a conversation, tap on the camera roll icon, select a photo, and send the image to your friend. They will be able to receive the high resolution photo.
